Cité de Carcassonne

OK, so maybe Cité de Carcassonne is a little bit on the cheesey side; it's still very beautiful. The castle is well worth the €8 entry. You get to walk around about half the city on the ramparts. The basilica is simple but pretty, but the rest of the old city is mostly tourist shops and restaurants.

Interesting note: the tour details when the different sections of the walls were built, and notes that one of the last sections was constructed to protect the holding from the local peasentry. That should tell you a bit about medieval France.

Now it's on to Nice and the Villa Saint Exupery, the "...Best Hostel in France." Woo-hoo. Spring Break!
