Going Deep

Intro dive lessons and snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef was the agenda for today.  We took a tour ran by Calypso and while everything in Australia seems to be exceedingly expensive, it was a great day out on the boat and the reef was spectacular.  The tour lasted about 8 1/2 hours ( slightly longer than usual due to mechanical issues with one of the boats engines ) and the weatherman served up a nice clear day with decent visibility under the water.  Tim took a couple of dives with the intro to scuba set and I viewed the fish from snorkel depth.  We've been trying to snorkel or even just swim in the ocean since 1770 and this was definitely the way to break the dry spell.
