Searching for the Beach

We headed north into Queensland expecting to find some great snorkeling beaches along the northern coast near the Great Barrier Reef, but have been disappointed so far.  Since our surfing weekend in 1770, we've pretty much struck out with sandy beaches.  The reef is a lot further off the coast than we expected so it looks like we'll have to pony up for a charter to get our snorkeling fix.  We have a recommendation for Calypso tours out of Port Douglas so will give that a try.  For now, we're spending a couple of days by the pool in Bowen just relaxing.  Soon it will be time to head inland for our trip back down to Brisbane and a lot more bushwalking ( we hope ).
