Paris in the Spring

We were really in Paris in the Spring (by two whole days). The weather was beautiful the entire week we were there. (We did, however, pick the only semi-foggy day to go up to the top of the Eiffel Tower. Oh well.) Now it's on to Carcassonne.

We had the whirlwind tour--as much as we could consume of museums, baugettes, and wine in five days' time. Most importantly, we hit the big three: The Eiffel Tower, The Mona Lisa, and Jim Morrison's grave.

Enough has been written about Paris, so it's not really necessary to give you all the details. I came away with several major impressions. The place really is as beautiful as everyone says. It will be ablolutely amazing in about 6 weeks when everything is in bloom. The Metro/regional train system is fantastic. Metro trains run every 2 minutes during the week, every 4 on Saturdays and every 5-6 on Sundays. Something tells me the SLUT(s) will never be as regular. The city is awash in tourists. Americans, French, Germans, Italians, you name it, they were everywhere. I cannot imagine it in High Season. The French will speak to you in English if you stand there and look dumb enough. They don't like it, but they'll do it.

Kari was a trooper. She came down with a bad cold and soldiered through. She was also nice enough to pass it on to me. I'll have to keep up my side and power through it as well. Rumor has it we actually beat Art's one week record for pictures taken. We'll have them up in a few days when we have something faster and more reliable than my cell.

  1. Kari & Tim,

Great pictures of Paris. Sorry to hear about your colds. Looks like you're having a good time. Remember to get some shots of the two of you together.
